Ruby studied Psychology at the University of Birmingham, which included conducting research on Post-Traumatic Growth and how adversity can become the foundation for resilience. She then qualified as a teacher and worked across London schools, and was awarded the London Teacher of the Year Award 2021 for her dedication to supporting young people.
To deepen her understanding of child development, Ruby worked as an Assistant Psychologist in a national children and young people’s clinical psychology service, supporting assessments and training teachers and parents across the UK. She also contributed to psychological research at UCL.
In her previous Assistant Psychologist role, Ruby supported specialist neurodevelopmental, cognitive and learning assessment pathways, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and cognitive assessments. Her work included assessment administration and scoring, statistical analysis, contributing to report writing, and gathering and reviewing information through school reports and observations as part of a wider professional team.
Alongside her one-to-one work, in her professional role Ruby designs and co-delivers training for parents, teachers and other professionals on SEN, neurodiversity, mental health and child development. She has planned and co-hosted national parent webinars reaching more than 10,000 families, as well as teacher training sessions. These sessions cover autism, ADHD, anxiety, emotional regulation, behaviour, EBSA, and supporting neurodivergent pupils at home and at school.
Over 10 years of working with children and families, nationally and internationally, Ruby has learned to notice what sits beneath the surface, where confidence has been knocked, what is making school or friendships difficult, and what is not being said out loud.
Ruby believes that children need to be both taught and understood, helped to grow academically, but also in their confidence, resilience and friendships. It all comes hand in hand. She has a unique skill set that combines an understanding of the classroom, education and psychology with the ability to build trusting and lasting relationships with children.
