Organisation & Independence.
For many children, the difficulty is not ability, it is everything around it. Getting started, knowing what to do first, keeping track of tasks and belongings, managing time, and staying with something long enough to finish it. This is often called executive function, and it can affect confident, capable children just as much as anyone. Ruby does not label a child as disorganised or lazy. Ruby understands what is getting in the way, and Ruby builds practical strategies and independence around how your child actually works.
Built around your child, not a fixed package.
Every programme is built around the individual child. Ruby and your child shape the focus, the pace and the goals, so the support fits your child, not the other way around.
Programmes run from a minimum of four sessions, and continue for as long as your child needs. Some children need a short, focused block; others benefit from longer, ongoing support. Ruby and the family find the right length together.
How it works
- 01It starts with a free discovery call, where Ruby talks through what is going on for your child and what you are hoping for.
- 02From there, Ruby builds a programme around your child's goals, strengths and needs.
- 03Programmes begin with a minimum of four sessions and continue for as long as they are helpful, with regular reviews along the way.
Who it's for
- Children who find it hard to get started or know what to do first
- Children who lose track of tasks, homework, time or belongings
- Children who struggle with focus, planning or finishing things
- Children with ADHD, autism or executive function differences
- Children who rely heavily on adults to stay organised
- Children who feel overwhelmed by busy days or big tasks
How Ruby approaches it
- Ruby starts by understanding where things break down for your child, without judgement
- Practical, personalised strategies for starting, planning and finishing
- Tools for managing time, tasks, attention and belongings
- Building independence step by step, so your child relies less on adult prompting
- Confidence built alongside skills, because feeling capable matters as much as being organised
- Approaches that fit your child's profile, including neurodivergent ways of thinking
What Ruby and your child work towards
Every child is different, but this is the kind of growth Ruby and your child work towards together.
What executive function coaching involves
Executive function describes the skills a child uses to organise themselves and get things done: getting started, planning what to do first, holding instructions in mind, keeping track of time and belongings, switching between tasks, and staying with something long enough to finish it. These skills develop at different rates in different children, and they can be harder for children with ADHD, autism or differences in processing speed and working memory.
Coaching works on these skills in practical, everyday terms. Ruby and your child look at where things break down for your child, try approaches together, and keep the ones that actually help, whether that is a way of breaking down a task, a routine for packing a bag, or a prompt that reduces the need for adult reminders. Progress here tends to be gradual rather than immediate, and the aim is that your child feels more in control and relies less on someone else to hold it all together.
This is part of Ruby’s approach and her way of working with every child. Read more about the approach.

Frequently asked questions
Is this therapy or counselling?
No. This is educational, psychology-informed coaching. It is not therapy or counselling, and it is not a substitute for clinical support.
What ages is this suitable for?
Programmes are designed for children and young people aged 7 to 18, with sessions adapted to the child's age, confidence, and context.
My child has ADHD or is autistic. Is this suitable?
Yes. The programme is strengths-based and built around how your child actually thinks and works, rather than expecting them to fit a standard system. It is coaching and skill-building, not clinical treatment or assessment.
What happens on the discovery call?
The free discovery call is a chance for Ruby to understand what is going on for your child, answer your questions, and decide together whether coaching feels like a good fit.
How many sessions will my child need?
Programmes begin with a minimum of four sessions and continue for as long as your child needs. Some children need a short, focused block, while others benefit from longer support. Ruby and the family review together as sessions progress.
Every programme is delivered personally by Ruby Cole, a qualified teacher combining academic rigour with an evidence-based understanding of how children learn and grow.
