Where and when Ruby works

Ruby works with families in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and works across time zones. Coaching is delivered online, one to one, at a time agreed around your child's school day.

If you are not sure whether your time zone works, ask Ruby.

Coaching comes first

Coaching is the main way Ruby supports international and expat families: structured, one to one support for the friendships, confidence, motivation and sense of belonging that come with growing up between countries. It runs from age 7 to 18.

Coaching for international families

Settling into a new country takes more than finding a new school.

A move abroad can look fine from the outside while a child is quietly carrying a lot. Coaching gives them a steady, structured space to work it through, one to one and online, with someone who understands both children and change.

Coaching runs from age 7 to 18, so it continues through secondary school and into the teenage years, which is often when the questions about identity and belonging surface most clearly.

Children who grow up between countries and cultures, sometimes described as third culture kids, often carry a rich sense of perspective and adaptability. Alongside that, they may be working out where home is, how to keep friendships across distance, and how to belong in a new place while still feeling connected to the last one. Coaching gives them space to make sense of that experience and to build the confidence and social skills that travel with them. There is more on friendship and social confidence coaching and on support with transitions and moving school.

Settling into a new school and country

Making friends in a new school, joining a class where everything works differently, and finding a footing when home and school feel very different.

Identity and belonging

What it means to grow up between cultures and countries, and how children and teenagers can feel secure in who they are wherever they are living.

Friendships and homesickness

Missing the people and places left behind, and building new friendships and confidence in a new setting, without losing the old ones.

Growing up between cultures

The bigger questions that come with an international childhood, worked through steadily in one to one sessions that fit your time zone.

Questions international families ask

What is the difference between tuition and coaching?

Coaching gives a child tools and support for the social and emotional side of things, like friendships, confidence, feelings and settling. Tuition is more about academic support, like schoolwork and subjects.

Can coaching continue through the teenage years?

Yes. Coaching runs from age 7 to 18, so it continues through secondary school and into the teenage years, which is often when the questions about identity and belonging surface most clearly.

Do you support neurodivergent children abroad?

Yes. Ruby adapts sessions for neurodivergent children and children with additional needs, which can be especially valuable where local specialist support is hard to find.

Which countries and time zones do you cover?

Ruby works with families in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Sessions are online, and Ruby works across time zones, with slots arranged around your child's school day.

How do online sessions work?

Sessions are one to one, over video call, at a regular time agreed around your child's school day and your time zone. Everything Ruby offers in person also runs online.

Online coaching and support by location

Ruby works online with children and teenagers aged 7 to 18 in international and expat families, with sessions arranged around their local school day and time zone. These pages set out what tends to come up in each place, and how coaching can help.

What this is

Education-led, psychology-informed coaching, delivered by a qualified teacher with a background in child psychology.

What this is not

This is not therapy, counselling, or clinical treatment. If Ruby believes a child would benefit from clinical support, she will always say so.
