Understanding the child beneath the behaviour.
Coaching starts with the child, not the problem. Ruby takes time to understand how your child thinks, what they find hard, and what they are already good at, then builds confidence, skills and self-understanding from there.
Every programme is built around the individual child, starting with a minimum of four sessions and continuing for as long as your child needs.
Ruby works as a children's coach and as a coach for teenagers, from age 7 through to 18, in North London and online, so the same steady relationship can continue as your child moves up through school.
What is children's coaching?
Children's coaching is goal-led, practical and built around one child. Sessions use conversation, activities, reflection and tools your child can actually use, so they leave with something they can try, not just something they have discussed. Ruby and your child agree what they are working towards, whether that is handling a difficult friendship, approaching an unfamiliar situation, managing difficult mornings or feeling more able to communicate a need. The aim is that your child understands themselves better and approaches situations with greater confidence. Coaching is not therapy, counselling, diagnosis, crisis support or treatment.
If it becomes clear that your child needs therapy, clinical assessment or another form of specialist support, Ruby will be honest about this and help you consider the most appropriate next step.
Coaching for neurodivergent children and children with SEN
Ruby offers individually tailored coaching for neurodivergent children and young people and those with SEN. Sessions can support emotional regulation, confidence, friendships, communication, organisation, transitions and greater self-understanding. A diagnosis or EHCP is not required, and every programme is shaped around the individual child rather than a label.
Coaching begins with understanding how your child experiences, processes and responds to the world. Sessions may include movement and breaks, visual or written tools alongside conversation, explicit language, fewer assumed or unspoken social rules, and time to develop trust. Strategies are explored and chosen with the child, so they feel useful in real situations and support the child's own goals. The aim is greater self-understanding and practical support, not teaching a child to mask or change who they are.
Where the difficulty is the learning itself, there is more on SEN and neurodivergent tuition.
Children and young people without SEN are equally welcome. Every programme begins with the individual child and what would help them now.
Ruby was incredibly supportive and had a wonderful approach that allowed my son to express his feelings openly and without judgement … The difference has been remarkable.
Frequently asked questions
Will coaching ask my child to mask or change who they are?
No. Coaching supports authentic communication, self-understanding and strategies that serve your child's own goals. Ruby and your child may explore ways to communicate a need, understand a social situation or manage an environment that feels difficult, but the aim is not to teach your child to hide their differences. Strategies are chosen with the child and should help them feel more understood, capable and themselves.
Ruby starts with the child.
Most support starts with the work. Ruby starts with the child. This is how every programme begins.
- 1
Understand
Ruby starts by looking beneath the behaviour. Not what is wrong, but what is really going on for this child.
- 2
Connect
She builds a genuine relationship. A child who feels safe and understood is a child ready to learn and grow.
- 3
Build
With trust in place, she builds skills, confidence and knowledge, at the child's pace and from their strengths.
- 4
Grow
Progress that lasts, because it is built on understanding and connection, not pressure.

Coaching for families abroad
Coaching runs online, so it is available to international and expat families too. A move abroad can surface exactly the things coaching helps with: settling, friendships, homesickness, and growing up between cultures. There is more on Ruby’s page for international and expat families.
Coaching does not have to stop at six sessions. Many families continue with ongoing weekly coaching afterwards, at the same rate, with no fixed end, for as long as it is useful. There is no obligation to continue, only the option.
